| 11 of us here on 23rd July. Was very busy and they found us room at the back of the brewery but "U" was not good from the tap in that room. It was average and we thought it was just not as fresh as beer from main bar tap at front of the brewery. Make sure you only get the beer from there. That was like a different beer though our overall impression was that the "U", although excellent, was just not quite as good as in the last few years. |

| 11 of us went to Keesmann last Friday 23rd July. Herren Pils and Sterla were superb again. A brewery worth supporting. We had in total 5 beers there, 40 large and 10 small. Cost €115. Can't argue with that. |

| Was on a beer tour of Bamberg and Annafest 23-25th July and went to Schlenkerla again. Beer was fantastic, even better than I remembered. No question that the draught is so much better than the bottles we can get In Ireland. |

| Brewery tap was closed so we went to the keller on the edge of the village. Wonderful setting but beer not as memorable as before. Was a little sharper than we all remembered, not the amber nectar of november 06. Maybe it was just a bad batch. Intend to revisit later in year or next summer to find out. |

| Re-visited the Lowenbrau brewery tap on 20th June, 2008. The beer was just as good as we remembered and this time it was better than the St.Georgen which wasn't as good as in November 06. Good schnitzels too! Owner very friendly. |

| Was here with 16 friends on 21st June, 2008. Wonderful setting and great beer, certainly among the best we had on our tour. However there are a couple of drawbacks; firstly it is a hell of a bus journey from Bamberg and secondly the system of having to pay a €3 deposit every time you Q up for a beer. The q's were long and it is not ideal if you want to get stuck in. Well worth the trip despite this The view from the top of the hill above the monastery is stunning. |

| Whilst it is a lovely old brewery/pub the beer(Lager)was not among the best I sampled over the weekend. A very grassy taste with an unpleasant finish. Perhaps just a bad batch. Mind you at ?1.60 a half litre it is hard to be too critical! |

| Stefan Michel gave 10 of us a tour of brewery on 9th November. Really impressive guy and a beer purist. All ingredients are organic. Ungespundetes was as good as ever. Brilliant value at ?2 a 50cl mug.Just superb. Also tried the weissbier which was just amazing. Can't rate this place highly enough. Great rumpsteak too! |

| The Herren Pils is the best pils in town. A super beer. Nice brewery tap too. Sternla also excellent. When visiting the Mahrs it is just over the road. |

| 10 of our group stayed here. Accomdation incredibly good value. Somewhat basic but rooms clean and warm. No complaints. Don't bother with the breakfast. Nothing to write home about. Pils was very good. Lager also good but we all preferred the pils. Very much a local working mans pub with punters downing beers at 9am! Owner very friendly. Well worth a visit. |

| Visited here on evening of 11th November,2006. Would have to agree with the last two contributors. Lovely place, great food but beer just not as good as other local breweries. Reminded me of US brewpub. Similar beer too. Very heavy, unfiltered but unsatisfying. Somewhat cloying. |

| We visited here after the Barnikel. Very friendly Inn. They only had the Pils on tap but it was very good, very much a franconian style pils. Not too sharp; good hop charachter but nothing as pronounced as a northern German pils. |

| Our first stop on 11th November. A really old traditional inn. A must see. Inn looks like it hasn't changed much since 19th century. Old wood burning heater in centre of room. Had the Bock first. A wonderful beer;one if the best of the style I've tasted. Not too sweet but a lovely long lingering finish. Also tried the Rauch beer from bottles(not available on tap). Hve to say I would prefer the Spezial or Schlenkerla. Incredibly low in carbonation so it looks almost flat. A fine beer in its own right but couldn't drink more than one. Also tried the regular lager beer which was excellent.

| Their Keller Bier was by common consent the best beer of our recent beer tour(last w/e)to Bamberg and around. Beer as it should be. Could not fault it. Truly magnificent on tap in the pub attached to the brewery. A world classic. Pub itself good with excellent local fare but staff not as welcoming as Lowenbrau. |

| Highly recommended. 13 of us visited here after St.Georgen on 11th November. We all really enjoyed it. Although Keller Bier not quite as good as their local rival(though still superb)the inn was much friendlier than St Georgen. Was a great atmosphere and we were allowed to buy a case of their excellent Bock for the bus back to Bamberg. Seemed like a good idea at the time! Bock very strong and tipped most of us over the edge! |

| Was very impressed with the Stoffla when we visited here in August 04. Also possible to order a small keg of it for shipment overseas.
Around the corner there is a lovely beer garden serving the excellent Hummelbier from nearby Merkendorf direct from the wood. |

| I rate this as my favorite all round brewery. Whilst the Schlenkerla is undoubtably a world classic, I just found the ungespundetes and the Bock ansolutlely fantastic, classic beers in their own right. Both are eminently quaffable with the low carbonation of the former easy on the system. Both beers are extremely complex and taste just great. In summer the beer garden is great craic. Will be interested to see what is like in November;didn't drink inside last time we were there. |

| lovely old brewery but when we visited in August 04 we felt that the beer was not among the best we had had in Bamberg. However, we didn't sample the full range ad perhaps we just hit it on an off-day. Will report back after next month's tour to see if it is better then. Most of the other reviews give me great cause for optimism. |

| Surprised at the negative reviews of the beer. When we visited in August 04 we found the beer excellent. Service was very good and the beer garden truly wonderful. Definitely the best beer garden we visited on our trip. On a hot summer's day, hard to beat. Looking forward to seeing what it is like next month. |

| Without doubt one of the greatest bars and beers in the world. Took 4 friends here in August 04 and all were completely blown away by it. So much so in fact that we have ordered a number of on line consignments of the rauchbier since then. 12 of us heading back to it next month! Long may it prosper. Food great too, weisswurst superb! |

| Stayed here in August 04 for 3 nights. Great value rooms.;Clean with a decent breakfast. Beer not half bad either! Although perhaps not as charachterful as some others in the region, still a damm sight better than most of the muck we have to put up with in Ireland. Shame they don't do a rauchbier.
Looking forward to a return trip next month. |
