Brauerei Sauer in Rossdorf am Forst

The heavenly Braunbier is my new favorite beer of Franconia surpassing even Barth Senger of Schesslitz. I could have stayed there the entire day. I don't know how you could make it any better.

Visited in July 2009 on a rainy afternoon after stopping by Griess first. Had a few beers and some food and both were very good. The kind of good, down to earth quality and atmosphere that I've come to expect from a Franconian brewpub.

Sadly their Keller was closed the day we visited in July 2009 due to the rain so we settled for the gasthof and enjoyed the Kellerbier along with some lunch. Very friendly people.

A great brewery in a gorgeous little Franconian town. I had both the dark beer and the pale export. Both were excellent especially the pale export which was liquid gold. Also got a tour of the brewery from the owner. The lagering tanks in a chamber dug into the hillside was really cool!

Well, I told friends about this place so they insisted I take them on our recent visit. They were not dissapointed. The beer is superb, the locals are a joy to drink with, the woman running the ausschank is as warm and friendly as can be, and knocking on the tables when entering and leaving is highly recommended. This place is a real Franconian gem.

The place was closed when we arrived on a Tuesday evening. Such is Franconia. But still the beer is outstanding even from the bottle.

Delicous, chocolaty dark beer at a very nice and relaxing countryside setting. I could easily spend an entire evening here.

Had dinner and a couple of beers at this nice, simple, old style pub. The food was very inexpensive, filling, and quite delicious. Just like homecooking. The beer was also very good. Friendly service too.

Truly one of the most amazing beers I've ever had. Very small, quiet, and no frills pub. Make sure to knock on every occupied table when you enter.
