Brauerei Sauer in Rossdorf am Forst
Comment from frank mcmenemy on 11/9/2006 10:16:39 AM
I sampled the Sauer Bock last Sunday (5th Nov) whilst on a cycle trip encompassing Bamberg,Geisfeld, Rossdorf.a.F & Pettstadt.Without any shadow of a doubt, the outstanding beer of the day - possibly the year- was enjoyed at Br.Sauer.This bock is a seriously complex beer, flirtatiously flowery descriptive prose is simply redundant, only the sensation of the beer swilling around one's mouth can do this extraordinary brew justice.

This is a wonderfullly old pub that oozes authentic character and charm. The beer is exceptionally invigorating-- especially if you've cycled from Bamberg!! The brewer Georges is a great fellow and when I made my first visit to the brewery last November , he insisted that I must return the following evening for their bockbieranstich !! I duly did so and enjoyed a quite stupendous night of beer, food and dancing!! This was a 'beano' that I hope my CARA mentor ,Gordon 'biffo' Andrews will put top of the list for this coming November -- over to you 'biff^ !!!

Brauerei Hellmuth in Burgkunstadt

I visited this charming little pub last November.both the helles & the dunkel were very fresh and full-bodied and naturally were eagerly imbibed by our group consisting of Frank Wetzel.Ursula.Wolfgang and three intrepid Swedes! This was our first stop on a daythat saw us consume quite heroic volumes of fine ale in several towns and viiages--Roll on the next excursion !!

Kommunbrauhaus in Neuhaus/Pegnitz

I stopped off at this small village whilst on my way back to Bamberg from Prague -- well, a supposed refreshment break of one hour suddenly developed into a two day celebration of finding a monumentally impressive brew from the Kommonbrauhaus, that was flowing gloriously at Pauli Reindl's Gastube on the Unterer Markt. Accommodation was found at the Frankisch Schweiz . located vards away from the house of liquid Nirvana ! ! Truly two wonderful days!
