Fünf Seidla Strecke
Posted by Nick B. on 2012-09-12 01:47:37
"Strecke" == stretch (of road, etc.) As opposed to the famous Fünf Seidla Steig of the VGN < http://vgn.de/wandern/fuenf_seidla_steig/ > which involves a fair bit of uphill & downhill walking ("Steig" == steep path/climb), this stretch of road covered by the 265 and 205 buses from Forchheim and Erlangen, respectively, < http://www.vgn.de/komfortauskunft/ttb/?lineName=265 > < http://www.vgn.de/komfortauskunft/ttb/?lineName=205 > will bring you past the opportunity for at least 5 Seidla(s) in one outing with a walk of 5 - 6 km (Bierkeller in the middle), though without a steep climb. It just occurred to me yesterday to document it, after having done it for the first time -- at least this specific combination of Seidlas anyway. My route yesterday was by bike, not bus though, and the GPS track is here with a few obligatory photos (not all from yesterday, mind!): < http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=1765638 > Erlangen by road to Röttenbach, then off-road to Adelsdorf and then Aisch, for Br. Rittmayer's (NOT THE SAME AS RITTMAYER IN HALLERNDORF) most excellent helles Hausbrauerbier, either bayerisch Anstich during Biergarten service or CO2 draught in the Gaststätte. Made it in record time yesterday, 53 minutes, just in time for the 14.30 afternoon closing. < http://twitpic.com/ath56d > Then on to the Laufer Keller west of Lauf for the nice enough Kellerbier or Pils from Brauhaus Höchstadt, where I knew Kellermates Gerhard & Uschi would be thanks to a tip from Barry. < http://t.co/FxX0Rv0X > Then through Lauf, Haid, and Willersdorf to the obligatory Roppelt Keller stop in Stiebarlimbach. < http://t.co/mKbZguqT > < http://t.co/H7J5SpTR > Compared to the rest of the day, Lieberth's Kellerbier is exceedingly bland, making this really a 4 1/3 Seidla Strecke, not a 5 Seidla. Seidla was abandoned due to lack of flavour. Lovely sitting by the Aisch though. < http://t.co/XxJNQ0p3 > Then a stop for the nice, though sweetish Vollbier at Br. Witzgall, with notes of black pepper, CO2 draught. < http://t.co/e5WCqZwd > (Of course, on a weekend from May - Sept, one can stop at the Keller instead of the Brauereigaststätte, meaning the paler, drier Landbier (bay. Anstich) instead of the Vollbier.) Then on to the Eggolsheim Bahnhof just in time for a huge thunderstorm to break loose, which I luckily avoided by good timing. By bus, this Strecke is best done the other way round, starting with line 265 in Forchheim to Schlammersdorf, Hallerndorf, Stiebarlimbach, and finally Haid (tell the driver you want to get off there!), with a 2.8 km walk to the Laufer Keller and then a 2.3 km from there to Aisch. From Aisch, an 850 km walk to Adelsdorf affords the greatest flexibility with the 205 bus to Erlangen. Breweries within metres of the stretch not visited yesterday include Sauer in Röttenbach and Rittmayer in Hallerndorf. Adding those two would make a Sieben Seidla Strecke. Closing times due to holiday, weather, season, or mood of the proprietors must be taken into account, as usual.
