| Which roughly translates as: "In 2009 the Bamberger Biertage will not take place, instead of that you can try our fine beers (litterally: barley juices) on 23 April, Tag des (Deutschen) Bieres." 23 April is the day that the 1516 Reinheitsgebot was launched. Personally I'm still not too sure if that's a reason to celebrate or to commemorate. The Reinheitsgebot can be quite a straitjacket for the more innovative German brewers - I still would love to see a decent bourbon barrel-aged double bock. Or a Cascade dry-hopped Rauchbier... |
