Sorry, just saw your reply now. I mean, there doesn't seem to be many Doppelböcke in Franken, at least not that I've encountered. A couple of strongish pale Winterböcke (forgive me, I do love the plural for "Bock"), well over 7%, could theoretically be classified as "Doppelböcke", but they're not called such. I think it's another example of charming obsession with beer styles & categories on the part of foreign beer geeks. Just like "Lager" or "Bier". Well, what KIND of Lager is it then? Huh?
