| have my heart, but the Germans have my soul! well, flights have been booked and i've got a plan :) thank you so much for the indispensable info on this site. i'm going to do a lot of reading and making notes for sure. not bringing back any beer as my bottle shop stocks quite a few Bamberger brands, and also because i'm flying both ways. what beer related souvenirs should i take home then? i'm hoping Stammtisch signs exist. as an all round bon vivant my plan is very simple: to drink fabulous beers, lots of it, and eat Franconian food. we're not into christmas at all, just want to spend the holidays in peace and quiet [away from the Niederländers, we hope]. dec 19 - 22: fly from DUS - NUE [we are backpackers so please recommend a cheapish but not a flea trap/basic/clean/in a good location hotel * read 'a short walk to/from good pubs' :) * Gasthaus Pillhofer sounds promising but they haven't a web site for online booking. how about Hotel Steichele? someone here mentions Motel One. actually, all three are promising.] dec 23 - jan 01: train to Bamberg [will be staying at an apartment accom. around the corner from Klosterbräu] jan 02 - 06: train to MUC. [i'm going to drink every Ayinger on tap! :) ] jan 07: fly back MUC - DUS danke and prost! :@)) lots of reading to do now |
