Herbert Höglinger maintains a (german language) website at http://members.liwest.at/hoeglinger/ Specially of interest is the list of breweries, navigate to "brauereien" and "links zu Brauereien". To pick out the most interesting breweries, a visit to the BierIG beerfest in Salzburg (formerly it was in Hallein) is a good start. Fred missed a hit in Salzburg (other branch of this thread), the Schallander is another micro in Salzburg, with a good Weissbier. Don't miss the Raggei brewery - it is very special. The beers from the Braucommune in Freistadt are also well worth a try. Plus a wealth of beers from other new(ish) micros.
