Please don't think you have anything to apologize for! What I find amusing about picking on the Brits and their weaker session beers is that after having left Oregon for Franken 3 years ago, I can longer handle 6%+ beers like I used to, since I'm drinking 5% lager all the time (excepting the near-daily half-liter - liter of Schankbiermischung). Amusing because I used to hear about Brits being hauled out of Belgian beer fests on stretchers, passed out cold--that's what I fear my fate would be were I to go to Kerstbierfest! Alles klar? AFA "SCNR" goes, I saw that, and though I have no idea what it's an acronym for, I assumed you used it instead of a smiley. And AFA Holländer vs. Dutchman vs. Niederländer goes, until a couple of years before I first visited Belgium in 1999, I thought that the Belgians spoke "Belgian"! I only claim to be slightly less ignorant today than I used to be. Seriously, I think that Germans tend to use "Holländer" and "Niederländer" interchangably, not being aware of any distinction. So when they hear my Minnesota accent in Deutsch, they may mistake me for someone from NL, but they simply say "Holländer" instead of "Niederländer". At least down south here.
