Need ideas for a Dec 07 Germany trip

Why not just focus on Benelux? Well, I've been to Belgium and the Netherlands a few times each and Luxembourg once. Lately, I've been making forays into Belgium for beer festivals but not spending a week there at a time. Plus, I like Germany and Christmas markets! And I'm studying German. Hmmmm, Bamberg is only 3 hours from Franfurt and the money I save by staying at a pub will more than cover daily train trips...hmmmm Maybe I do have to rethink this trip. thanks Mike
