| Yes, we had massive rain, all night long, somewhat unexpectedly. Flooding between Erlangen and Forchheim caused both the A73 autobahn AND the train line to close; Uncle Jimbo's train from Nürnberg-Bamberg stopped in Erlangen, where he then had to bus to Forchheim before taking the train again to Bamberg. I assume Jez suffered the same fate, unfortunately. Of course my local newspaper's website is offline at the moment, so I don't have any further details now. www.diebahn.de offers no information and the journey planner suggests normal travel times between Erlangen & Forchheim today. Ah...reading your welt.de link reveals that things are back to normal, train-wise at least. Baiersdorf was hardest hit; a train at the station threatened to tip over from the flooding?!? I assume the forest trails will still be quite wet today; I'll show up at either Annafest or Stiebarlimbach a bit muddy, I'm afraid. |
