Choo-choos to Gräfenberg & Ebermannstadt

http://i14.tinypic.com/525n8s0.jpg We rode from Erlangen to Kalchreuth (about 45 minutes, past what are rumored to be former newkyewlar artillery depos in the Reichswald, FWIW), and hopped this train to Gräfenberg. We'd planned to ride from there to Gößweinstein, but didn't get an early enough start, so we cut it off at Egglofstein and rode from there to Forchheim. The E-stadt train passed us on the way: http://i11.tinypic.com/6c6ty6q.jpg Along the way, we happened upon a little Schlossfest at Pretzfeld, which is where one disembarks the Ebermannstadt train to go to Unterzaunsbach (Br. Meister) and/or Hetzelsdorf. I've always liked this old Schloss from the outside, and it was nice to see it from the inside, at least from the courtyard (Hof). And hey, Meisterbräu for a reasonable Fest price of 2€/Seidla! http://i14.tinypic.com/6bazsli.jpg The Schloss dates originally from the 12th century, though the current form is only from the end of the 16th. Siemens ran some sort of semiconductor lab there after WWII. Office space there is now for rent. View north across the little Garten: http://i7.tinypic.com/4tgkkee.jpg And from outside the wall under the trees on the east side: http://i11.tinypic.com/6cr381i.jpg And the other side: http://i9.tinypic.com/6cgu58j.jpg So not a total loss of a nice Sunday.
