Train tickets

Not that I know of--but you might find deals such as this in the US before you come over, though I'd imagine it'd be for the whole country, not just for one Bundesland like Bayern. In the Nürnberg mass transit region, there is also the option of the Tagesticket, which is good for unlimited travel for one day (or two days if bought on a Saturday) within the Nberg region: from god-knows-where south of Nberg up to Eggolsheim--which of course does not include the area around Bamberg. Yet. Bamberg may be incorporated into the Nberg region someday soon, but I'll bet you an AnnafestmOHss that it won't happen before this summer's over. We use the Tagesticket a LOT, because we live within the Nberg region, and it's good for 2 adults and 2 bikes or 2 kids. When we bike from Erlangen to Stiebarlimbach, and then on to Forchheim to take the RE back to Erlangen, we end up saving a € or two with the 8.80€ Tagesticket for us and our bikes. Especially if we make such a bike tour twice on a weekend! I can personally vouch for the Mehrwertsteuer (value added tax) hike's having impacted taxi prices this year: A taxi the other day from S-limbach to Hirschaid Bahnhof set me back 25€ instead of last year's €20. After an especially pleasant afternoon at the Keller, I found that I had a flat. I believe it was the same driver as we had last year, but last year's taxi adventure is a bit...er...foggy for me.
