First time to Bamberg

Indeed the beer(s?) at the Fest doesn't sound exciting at all. Chris, who visits this board occasionally, went last year with his Frau and friends and enjoyed it. But then, he's an Oktoberfest buff. I would say that the town and Festung in Kulmbach is very lovely, and perhaps worthy of a visit regardless of the Fest. OTOH, 3 days in Bamberg--one can easily spend 3 days in Bamberg alone.
