Local Buses Bamberg (StWB)

There is a new timetable for the local buses in and around Bamberg in force since the end of march. They changed the timetables again because of the demolition and rebuilding of the Löwenbrücke, but there are also a few other changes. I'll try to give some useful info concerning the buses to the brewery taps and other places of beery interest in and around the city. Line 4 to Dörfleins via Hallstadt: no change, a few buses in the morning and afternoon mo-fri, and saturday morning, otherwise the buses run only as far as Hallstadt (destination Kiliansplatz or Bahnhof); Line 5 to Wunderburg: no change; Line 6 to Bischberg: two buses per hour to Bischberg, two more that only go as far as Gaustadt mo-sat, one each on sunday; Line 7 to Memmelsdorf-Drosendorf: two buses per hour mo-fri, one on sat and sunday. On the way back to Bamberg the buses do no longer stop at Memmelsdorf Markt (in front of Höhn), instead they stop at the Rathaus stop. To get there you walk from Drei Kronen along the cemetery wall and Gasthof Leicht straight on into Rathausstrasse (about 200 m.); Line 10 to Michaelsberg and Wildensorg: two buses per hour to Wildensorg, two more that make a sort of circle around the Michelsberg mo-sat, on sunday only the buses to Wildensorg; Line 12 to Stegaurach: no change; Lines 17 to Merkendorf and 27 to Schammelsdorf both only run a few times each monday-friday. Note however that the line 27 buses that appear to end in Drosendorf in fact continue as line 17 to Merkendorf and Bamberg, thereby increasing the service to and especially from Merkendorf to one bus every one and a half hour in the afternoon. Line 18 to Laurenziplatz runs four times an hour, two with destination Südwest-Klinikum, two to Bug via Klinikum. Line 18 is linked to line 1, meaning it continues to the railway station from the central bus station (ZOB), and vice versa. It is a bit confusing that there now are cases of a single line number having two possible destinations (esp. 6 and 18), so be sure to look carefully. Also note that some lines now depart from another bay at the ZOB. The timetable book (pocket size) can be bought at the ZOB for one euro, you get the map that you also can find online with it. On the back is the map of the evening ("night") buses, lines A-D.
