DB Gets Tough

I saw the signs in the station when I was there. Belgium did this a few years back, IIRC. I think its a sign of the times (or a sign of the decline of civilization to some Germans -- just like crossing the street against the light :) ) I've only bought tickets on board when I've been running for the train and no time to stop at the machine. Like you, I always let the conductor know I need to buy a ticket (even if they don't sell it right away, they remember later) and I've never had a problem. Guess I'll have to allow more time to use the ticket machine -- they always take me a long time -- either they don't like my money or my credit card.
