Lots (many? most?) of the small country brewers buy their malt locally. Very locally. And their hops. Indeed I would think that this would start to squeeze them. And beer prices do rise, albeit "slowly" IMO.
Your second question is one I also ask, and wonder openly if Löwenbräu in Buttenheim didn't cut back on the hops for the Kellerbier back during the Big Hop Price Jackup of 2007 or 2008. I and others I know can't drink it any more. |
