| I've been browsing around the Bahn site some more and may have found an even better option for you: however, you need to have a group of six (children are counted as well, but do not pay full price). If you have six, you can use something called "Gruppe&Spar" (group and save). One of the big advantages of this ticket is that you can book up to one year (!) in advance.
These tickets are valid on all trains (including ICE) and are tied to a specific train and date. They are valid also in first class and can be exchanged for a different route or date for €15 up to seven days before the trip. Looking at Munich to Bamberg in May, as a test, the fare came to €17.70 per person with this ticket on the ICE (second class). You can read more about it at www.bahn.de/gruppenreisen/ |
