| Oh come on, admit it Mike, your preferred mode of transportation is the high horse. Okay that wasn't nice. Funny but not nice. Seriously I really don't know what the debate is. Like you I think of renting a car as a tool to make things more convenient. Most of the time it's not the best option but, in my opinion, sometimes it is. I use it to sometimes get from hotel to hotel. A little story. Last summer I had the goal of wandering around the Aufsess area visiting the breweries thereabouts. I thought it would be a good idea to reserve a room at Reichold at Hochstahl. I corresponded with them via email and thought I was secure. I had a lovely drive out from Bamberg, parked the car, walked up to the building, and saw the dreaded Urlaub sign (just for that day). I had a huge suitcase with me as I was in the middle of a 16 day vacation. Now what kind of shit would I have been in if I had taken the bus or taxi? Nobody was around and the doors were locked. Luckily I studied the area and had a car. I drove to Rothenbach and got a room. Think I had the right tool for the situation? |
