If you do one thing in Franconia, go to Ochsenfurt, order shweineshaxen at the landgasthaus, and wash it down with Kauzen dunkles. Heaven on earth!

Kauzen Brau is my second-favorite German beer after Wurzberger Burgerbrau, which doesn't seem to be listed anywhere.

While stationed in the Army in Wurzburg in 1967-69, I found Wurzburger Burgerbrau the one I liked of the two breweries in town. However my favorite beer which I had delivered to my apartment every two weeks was Kauzen. I found out recently from them that they don't export their beer. I'm open to suggestions for a beer I can find in the Seattle area that would have a similar german taste. Joe

Kauzen do export. The bottle I'm drinking right now has info in English and Italian as well as German, so at least to those two countries.
