Brauhaus Robesbierre: Bamberg's 10th Brewery

Note: Any errors in translation are mine, as are the photo captions. You can see the original article at www.bierregion-franken.info/Robesbierre/
Fred.

The brewery Robesbierre was founded as a Hobby and Experimental Brewery in the year 2000. Since 2002 it has been a commerical brewery for tax purposes: thus Bamberg has 10 breweries again.

The brewery's logo contains the sign of the Brewers Guild, which represents the four elements. [The six sided star that is very similar to a Star of David: fw]. The double M stands for the Millenium -- the founding year of the brewery.

On principal, only ungespundet (made with unpressurized fermenters) beers are produced: a Pils, an amber Festbier, an "U" [a lightly carbonated beer similar to a kellerbier: fw] and a pale bock. All beers are unfiltered and bottle or keg conditionioned (they undergo a final fermentation in the bottles or kegs) Annual production is around 15 hl per year which is also why there is no commercial sales.

The minature brewery can be found in the basement of the Brauerei Wilde Rose, which closed in 1973. Antique and historical brewing equipment are all around, including the complete keg and bottling line, the wort chiller, open primary fermenters and lagering tanks.

The beer production is in the hands of Braumeister Robert Pawelczak
