A Visit to Brauerei Schrüfer in Priesendorf In May 2002 a group of us were on our way to Brauerei Seelmann in Zettmansdorf when our guide Frank Wetzel suggested we stop by one of his favorite breweries, Brauerei Schrüfer in Priesendorf. Alfons Schrüfer, the owner and brewer, apprenticed at Brauerei Spezial in Bamberg. According to Frank Spezial has the best beer in the Universe, so its no surprise that he puts Schrüfer in his personal top ten list. Now Spezial brews mostly rauchbiers but not so at Schrüfer. The beer is a typical but very tasty Franconian Kellerbier Here are some photos we took that day. Not much commentary, just enjoy the view and dream of the beer...

This large stone vessel around back is for sale (but you have to pick it up yourself!) It was described to me as mashtun but it could have been a steeping tank for when the brewery malted their own grains (as most breweries did until modern times)
