Need ideas for a Dec 07 Germany trip

It may be anathema to suggest it *here*, but have you been to Munich? While the beer is fairly boring by Franconian standards, the city itself is great. And the beer halls are fun, even considering the beers' mediocrity. I'd recommend this over a return to either Würzburg or Nürnberg. Dresden? Berlin? For the beer tourist, an obvious suggestion for a day trip from Nürnberg is to visit the "Zoigl" country in the Oberpfalz, an hour or so by train away. If you do end up spending your time in Nürnberg, rest assured there won't be a lack of day trips to make and good beer to find. Rothenburg o.d. Tauber is a conceivable day trip, 75 minutes or so each way. Heck, hop off for a look around Ansbach on the way there or back. (Though Ansbach's nothing compared to Rothenburg.) I've also been to Heidelberg only as a day trip, and don't feel compelled to go back to explore it any deeper any time soon. And I didn't even get up to the castle.
