ell the real travesty is that you publish uninformed nonsense as fact. As a German beer lover and a Franken beer lover and as someone who has worked on the German Beer Bar for years, I can say that most of the beers are served by gravity are in the original brewery filled containers. The beer is refrigerated until the time of sale, and is fresh as can be given that it has travelled. It is always within the brewery's "use by" date. The ones on "draught" are propelled to the bar by an air compressor and are not sold "flat". To go back to the gravity ones, it is just the same as in Zum Uerige or PJ Fruh in terms of the dispense. No German beers are EVER sold from a handpump. I can only conclude that you have never actually been there to either taste or witness the procedures. We turn each beer over so quickly that they never go out of condition. As for the other stuff about CAMRA attracting youngsters etc. etc. Nonsense. The aim is to offer choice to drinkers and educate them into real lager and different indigenous beer styles. That is why we serve the beer properly, not the gassed up travesties that most of them drink each day and, in my view, the way a lot of German beers are going these days. You need the right proportion of CO2 in the beer to serve it properly. The breweries that sell the beer to us know this. We serve it on gravity with Germ,an supplied dispense equipment exactly as the brewery intends it to be served. OK. There may be an argument about the draught ones (a small minority) and air compressors but turnover takes care of that. Think again.
